Home Inspection in Flower Mound

Flower Mound

1st Choice Inspection Services has been inspecting North Texas homes for more than 13 years. We have assembled a team of licensed and highly skilled inspectors who always do an outstanding job and treat every client with courtesy. Our service area extends throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and into the surrounding counties. Let us put our expertise to work for you whenever you need a home inspection in Flower Mound.

Whenever you buy a new property, it’s highly recommended you get a complete home inspection to make sure you won’t be buying someone else’s problems. Sometimes sellers don’t disclose everything that’s wrong with the home, either intentionally or because they don’t know the extent of the problems themselves. That’s where experienced home inspectors can help.

When you hire 1st Choice to inspect your home, we go from top to bottom and check each system individually. If we find something amiss, we take photos to document it. From the top of the roof to the foundation beneath the home, we check everything to make sure it’s in good shape for you. Then we complete our report and go over our findings with you. We take the time to answer questions and let you know how much time and money you can expect to spend on the necessary repairs.

The City of Flower Mound

Flower Mound is a town of about 70,000 people located in Denton and Tarrant counties. It is northwest of Dallas and lies adjacent to Grapevine Lake. The town is named for a 12.5-acre mound at its center that blooms with a variety of native wildflowers and rises 650 feet above sea level.

Originally inhabited in the 1850’s, Flower Mound struggled to find its footing and was nearly annexed by the city of Irving before incorporating in 1961. The arrival of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in 1974 caused a population surge, and the town has been steadily growing ever since.

Flower Mound was named Money Magazine’s 16th Best Place to Live in 2018. The town’s outstanding graduation rates and reasonable home prices attract newcomers from all over the country. The top employers in the town are Lewisville Independent School District, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, and Communications Test Design, Inc. The newly-built Riverwalk at Flower Mound is a 158-acre multi-use development that will eventually hold housing for families and seniors as well as many shops, a hospital, and a chapel.

Home Inspections in Flower Mound

North Texas is part of the nation’s infamous Tornado Alley, a region that spans the central United States and which spawns severe storms throughout the year. March, April and May are the stormiest months in Texas, though tornadoes can occur at any time when conditions are right. Flower Mound homeowners should get a professional roof inspection following severe storms to make sure their roofs have not been damaged by hail, water, high winds, or broken tree limbs.

If your property is low-lying or built at the base of a hill, flash floods can present a real problem. The soil in North Texas is full of clay, which tends to get hard and isn’t very absorbent. When heavy rainstorms break out, the water level rises much faster than it can soak into the ground. This produces rapid flooding that can quickly trickle down through sloping yards and into your home.

Foundation problems are also a common find during home inspections in Texas. The soil we mentioned earlier swells when it becomes saturated and contracts when it’s dry, causing slab foundations built on it to shift around and develop cracks. A good home inspector can find early signs of foundation problems so that you can get them repaired before they become too extensive.
