Home Inspection in Westlake

Westlake

Westlake is an affluent, upscale town in Denton and Tarrant counties, and a suburb of Fort Worth. Most of the homes in Westlake are of relatively new construction, but that’s no reason to skip a comprehensive home inspection when you’re looking to purchase a home there. Plumbing and electrical problems can come up at any time, even in newer homes, because of former tenants’ usage or weather events like lightning storms and floods. Buying a home in Westlake is a large investment, so you need an experienced inspection company like 1st Choice Inspection Services on your side.

Our team of licensed home inspectors has been serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area for more than 13 years. We have experience with all the common problems North Texas homes face, and we know the signs to watch out for. We inspect your house from roof to foundation and present you with a report of our findings. Because we believe in educating our clients, we go over the report with you and tell you what our findings mean for you as a homeowner so you can make an informed decision about repairs.

Our service area includes Dallas County, Tarrant County, Denton County and the surrounding areas, including the town of Westlake.

The Town of Westlake

Settled in 1847 by a group of about 20 families, Westlake evolved into a 2,000-acre property known as the Circle T Ranch. The town incorporated in the late 1950’s, and today it is the home of about 1,400 residents. There have been attempts to disband the town due to disagreements over property development. Trophy Club left the community to become its own town, and parts of Westlake were annexed by Southlake and Fort Worth before the disbanding was ruled to be unlawful.

Westlake is made up of secure and secluded housing developments that are home to celebrities, professional athletes, high-level politicians, and CEOs of major corporations. It was once named the most affluent community in the USA by Forbes Magazine. While Westlake is mostly a residential town, it houses the sprawling Solana Business Park and the corporate campus of Fidelity Investments.

Westlake has the dubious distinction of having, by far, the highest per-capita traffic ticket revenue in Texas. The town’s school-aged children are served by Keller, Northwest, and Carroll ISDs, along with the Westlake Academy charter school.

Home Inspections in Westlake

Westlake is a master-planned community. All construction must be approved by the Development Review Committee and the Town Council, and must adhere to strict building code regulations. New construction is limited, but when it does get approved, it is of very high quality.

However, homes in Westlake are like all homes in North Texas when it comes to the harmful effects of the weather here. Extended droughts followed by heavy rain cause the clay in the area’s soil to contract and then swell with the changing moisture levels. This causes cracks in the foundation, the exterior walls and, if left unaddressed for long enough, cracks in the interior walls and ceiling.

Roofs are another area where repairs are often required following a home inspection. North Texas gets a full three months of storm season each year, and the high winds and hail that occur often leave shingle and tile roofs damaged. When shingles go flying, they leave parts of the roof exposed to rain, which then seeps through the roof and into the attic. Mold and mildew can eventually develop there and begin spreading down into the more lived-in areas of the home, creating an unhealthy environment for families and their pets.

For the very best in home inspection services, you need experienced professionals who know the area and the challenges it poses for homeowners.
